Got Questions? Our Experts Have All the Answers
How can the Ashkalit 268 white block help prevent wall moisture? What role does it play in improving thermal and acoustic insulation? And how can it help reduce construction and energy costs? All the answers you’re looking for—right here.
How Does the Unique Chemical Structure of the Block Affect Its Properties?
The Ashkalit 268 block is easy to cut, allowing maximum material use during construction. Its low specific gravity enables savings of up to 23% in ceiling reinforcement steel and about 10% in structural elements overall, while also reducing the need for handling equipment on-site. Despite its lightweight, the block’s vertical compressive strength exceeds standard requirements, allowing further savings in gridle casting, mold making, and the use of concrete, cement, and timber.
How Can the Construction Contractor Save Costs by Using the Ashkalit 268 Block?
The Ashkalit 268 block is easy to cut, allowing maximum material use during construction. Its low specific gravity enables savings of up to 23% in ceiling reinforcement steel and about 10% in structural elements overall, while also reducing the need for handling equipment on-site. Despite its light weight, the block’s vertical compressive strength exceeds standard requirements, allowing further savings in girdle casting, mold making, and the use of concrete, cement, and timber.
How Can the Ashkalit Block Prevent Moisture, Mould, and Fungi on the Walls?
Made from cured cellular concrete, Ashkalit blocks are almost fully impervious to water. Their improved chemical structure and unique cement formula result in much lower capillarity than ordinary concrete blocks. Thanks to their porous structure, the blocks release humidity easily, preventing condensation, mould, fungi, and damp patches better than any other building block.
Is a Primer Necessary Before Applying the Plaster Coat to Ashkalit 268 Blocks?
No. Ashkalit 268 blocks do not require a primer—cement or gypsum plaster can be applied directly to the block.
How Can the Ashkalit 268 Block Reduce Electricity Costs in the Home?
The improved Ashkalit 268 block offers exceptional thermal insulation, far exceeding Israeli Standard requirements across all regions. Its insulation level is three times higher than that of a standard block and twelve times higher than concrete. Residents of buildings constructed with the white block enjoy optimal, comfortable indoor temperatures year-round, reduced energy consumption for heating and cooling, significant savings on electricity costs, and a considerable reduction in toxic gas emissions.
What Is the Advantage of the White Block in Acoustic Insulation?
According to Israel Standard SI 1004, the minimum required acoustic insulation between apartment walls is 50 dB. A wall built with 22 cm-thick Ashkalit 268 white blocks and plaster achieves up to 51 dB, exceeding the standard. Its superior acoustic performance is thanks to the block’s unique porous structure and lightweight, airy material.
What Unique Solution Does the Ashkalit 268 Block Offer for Acoustic Insulation Between Different Spaces?
Ashkalit 268 features an innovative three-layer wall system composed of 10 cm and 15 cm-thick acoustic blocks, 16 mm-thick gypsum cladding on both sides, and glass wool with a specific gravity of 24 kg/cu.m. packed between them. This design achieves a high acoustic resistance level of at least 62 dB—well above Israeli Standard requirements—while keeping the structure lightweight. It is ideal for separating apartments, offices, hotel rooms, and hospital rooms.
What Fire Protection Does the Ashkalit 268 White Block Offer?
Ashkalit 268 blocks comply with Israeli fire resistance standards and hold the highest V1.4.4 fire rating, classified as non-combustible across parameters like toxic emissions, combustibility, flammability, and smoke density. Incorporating Ashkalit blocks into insulation walls protects the structural frame during fires and prevents heat transfer to the reinforcement and concrete.
The blocks offer exceptional fire resistance of 3–6 hours, depending on block and plaster thickness: a 10 cm bare block resists fire for at least 100 minutes, with plaster coating extending it to at least 180 minutes. A 20 cm block can achieve a fire resistance level of at least 6 hours.
What Raw Materials Is the White Block Made Of?
The white block is made only from naturally occurring raw materials—sand, cement, and lime—and contains no aggregates from radioactive volcanic sources. As a result, its radiation levels are significantly lower than the maximum allowed under Israeli Standard 5098. Its high air content also makes the block lightweight and uses less raw material per unit than any other building material.
What Are the Advantages of the White Block Compared to the Concrete Block in Terms of Environmental Protection?
The raw materials from which the block is made contain ⅛–⅕ of the quantity of natural minerals used for raw materials in the manufacture of concrete products. In addition, these raw materials are produced by a reduced energy process compared with the raw materials used to manufacture other types of blocks. For example, the energy consumption for the production of cement to make the white block is 70% lower than the consumption of polluting energy required to produce cement intended for the manufacture of an identical quantity of concrete blocks.
How Do the Block’s Structure and Weight Affect Its Resilience and Strength?
The block’s low weight helps reduce the load on the building frame, and together with its uniform and homogeneous structure, makes it more resistant to earthquake shocks and vibrations compared to hollow blocks, which tend to fracture in such situations.
May Heavy Objects Be Suspended on the White Block Products?
Absolutely. Using specially designed anchors, both light and heavy objects can be suspended on white block products. The block’s monolithic structure offers a major advantage, as it grips the dowel along its entire length, ensuring safe and secure anchoring.
When building a high-quality, safe, and durable home or structure, selecting the right materials is crucial. It is important to choose materials that provide a strong, water- and fire-resistant frame, along with optimal thermal and acoustic insulation to enhance quality of life, save energy, and support environmental protection. The Ashkalit 268 white block meets all these requirements, enabling fast, convenient, high-quality, and safe construction.
